McKeever’s Mississippi River Erosion Control Project
In 2018 we completed an erosion control project on the Mississippi River with a private land owners. This site was producing 142 tons of sediment (aka dirt) per year from 200 feet of shoreline. This excess sediment entering into the water negatively affects fish habitat, plant life, and water quality.
We reshaped the bank, planted many shrubs and native plants, installed toe wood bank structures, and rock veins. All of these structures stabilize and naturalize the stream bank which will prevent sediment from entering the water, provide fish habitat, and stabilize the shoreline.
