Kaschmitter’s Minnesota Ag Water Quality Certification

Brothers Brian and Glen Kaschmitter and their families certified their 900 acres of Benton County farmland in the Minnesota Ag Water Quality Certification Program (MAWQCP) in 2021.

They have raised crops, finishing and farrowing hogs, and 50 cow calf beef pairs throughout their lives. Over this time their commitment to the environment and their farm operation has shined.

They currently farm just over 900 acres of corn and soybeans in rotation with alfalfa, with over 180 acres of that being no tilled. Some of their conservation focused practices included doing manure spreader calibrations and nutrient management test plots with manure testing. Kaschmitter’s also utilize irrigation pivot uniformity testing and in season plant tissue testing with soil testing. These practices encourage well informed decision making when it comes to their nutrient and irrigation water management.

Brian and Glen also have maintained a terrace, installed and maintained perennial grass filter strips, have upkept wetlands and naturally vegetated areas, along with field windbreaks. They are dedicated to continuing their hard work through the MAWQCP.
